CAN’T BEAT WEDNESDAYS IS PROUD TO PRESENT:
EERO JOHANNES live
DJ FISKARS
Eero Johannes is a one-man synthetic funk orchestra. His background as a
drummer and a bassist has a fundamental part in building the
electronic, “sugarhigh” grooves for the dancefloor.
Lately he’s been working on a new liveset that allows him to control both his visuals & music synced at the same time while playing, providing the audience a new way of perceiving the live-performance.
This week’s guest DJ is no other than Fiskars (Top Billin). Known for his love of 80’s, Casio-watches and AOR, DJ Fiskars will deliver a herringsalad of all things classic.
Hosted By J-Laini (Top Billin)
Tickets 5 euros (Including a free drink). 18 and over
RAP – DANCEHALL – RNB – SOUL – FUNK – ALL GOOD- QUALITY SELECTIONS AND CHEAP DRINKS ALL NIGHT LONG!!!
“–Blending these melodies with electronic r&b
beds, grimy Miami Bass and computer game riffs, the
imaginary Scandinavian genre might just have Eero Johannes to
thank for its first defining classic, as the veteran funk musician
crafts 13 tracks of playful 32-bit funk that sounds like nothing else around.”
-Allan McGrath, DJ MAG (Dec 08)
“–And despite focusing doggedly on the
skweee formula of stripped down, dirty beats and naive, one-finger
keyboard melodies, Johannes manages to introduce a good deal of sublety –
melancholy chimes, oblique key changes and unobtrusive avant garde touches
combine to make this instrumental party music; like the best R&B, it’s far
more articulate than it has any right to be.”
-The Wire (Dec 08)
“–Musically speaking, it glides through pop, electrofunk, Miami bass, R’n’B and dance influences
like it don’t give a shit. Bang this CD on your iPod and I guarantee an interesting walk home.
You might even drift momentarily out of your consumer-led coma and feel that freaky
synth funk and some of those rather disorientating riddims.”
