Ships that flyJune 4th, 2009 by Sir Nenis

As I watch quite a lot of sci-fi movies (as well horror flicks), I’ve have come to the conclusion that Ridley Scott is right, the genre is dead. Nobody comes up with anything new. Why is it that everytime the story is happening in the future, the society is a totalitarian society, run by a council (have you also noticed that the head of the council is always a woman). And people wear medieval clothes… What’s up with that? I guess that it’s because costume design in expensive and every studio has those 16th century clothes in their wardrobe, so “let’s use them because it’s a tight budget”? At one time there was this fantasy meets sci-fi film movement, or at least they were popular for a while, so you end up seeing a film about future civilasations where people use flying bikes and those pirate ships that fly too… And a monocle that makes the left eye bigger! And why is there so many ‘chosen ones’? Bladerunner and Alien for life.
This has nothing to do with the above, but after sunshine days it’s pretty rainy today, so this is in order.
