…with the Love Parade tragedy. I went to LP in 1998 in Berlin and had a blast with 800000 like-minded people. I’m not the most ‘raving’ type (you know shirtless with whistles and all) of dude but enjoyed that German holiday very much. Pity to see it stop now maybe because it was created for love and togetherness I feel.
Just got back from unbelievably hot Berlin. I finally met these awesome girls, Immy and Janna from Truants posse. Truants is super fun blog and they have this awesome Truancy mixtapes project. So far there’s exclusive mixes from Nguzunguzu, Dj Neoteric, Sam Tiba, Kenton Slash Demon and many more. Of course there’s one coming from Femme too.
Anyway, I thought to share this one gem with you – mainly because it was playing in my head the whole trip. It’s early Chicago house rarity from Joe Lewis and just perfect tune for summer. Gotta love those little snare fills and cowbells! I think the vinyl goes for something like 100-200 euros on Ebay, so good luck with that one.
Say hello to DIETER, the alter ego of our friend Roko, who is fun dude and lives in Berlin. His couch is pretty worn out of all the visists from us there. He does weekly shows at Sub FM among other things, but this mix is a UK Funky / Techy type of affair, while Dieter is a funny name. Grab it after the jump.
While Young Leopold and boys will get down to some raps tonite at Kuudes Linja, we’re in digging into subs at Roko’s joint in Neukölln in Berlin while he’s doing his radioshow at Sub.fm. Bass heavy, how about some Estonian dubstep, what you say about that?
Sharkslayer is off to Berlin, the fashion week is on, lot of things going on. Looking forward to party with Jörg from Brlln blog and hopefully cathing up with Wool. DB boys are in town too so hopefully there will be big dinners. I’m hungry and all I got is this chopping mall sandwich.
Salut Carcon, Hey Boy, It’s a Girl In a Fur… Check out the new mix on the deeper tip from Helsinki’s Femme En Fourrure. Sweet tracklisting and so far their own tunes are getting a lot of play from me.
Glen DJ Wool is such a good guy and such a good dj. Great action on this mix I have to say. Makes me think how’s Berlin… Good I guess…. Last time I went there I had to sleep a week after, the city drains you. In a good way.
Eagle Boston is totally cool german/finnish ensemble. Apparently the band was formed while mixing the LCMDF album in the Kaiku studios in Berlin. From what I’ve heard, the girls were late and the dudes just started jamming, and the next thing you know, there’s a new band. They combine elements from kraut, new wave and traditional pop music, I really love that there’s people pushing this kind of sound… And doing it well too! The band is making waves in the States already (I heard “Satan Highway” on EVR (pretty much the coolest netradio out there), so be on the lookout, they might go places.
We’re doing a small German tour this week, first hitting Berlin for a Popkomm party and then playing at Cookies. After that Munchen and Frankfurt will be on fire. Join the party if you’re around!
