When brother Pete of Smalltown DJ's fame called from Calgary and asked us to remix U-Tern smasher 'Style, Class, Flair' (which we had already been playing for months), we got right on it. After contemplating a little while we knew what the orig needed, a total 90's workout with percussive drums and squeeky synths. Turned out nice.... Preview it here and don't for get to cop that at Beatport. Here's what the label had to say about the affair: The unstoppable disco-goblin known as U-Tern is back again with "Style, Class, Flair", a throbbing piece of dancefloor gristle that will ignite even the stodgiest affair. I travelled to Helsinki in August this year to play a great Top Billin party, and took in the amazing Flow Festival, a trip I'll never forget. I was blown away by all the people I met there who were big fans of the series. Its no wonder volume 16 from Helsinki 78-82 remains one of the most downloaded editions of the series! Well, I'm very proud to announce that we've reached Volume 50! Myself and series co-creator Matty C took the reigns on this one, and delivered a 2 part mix that showcases 2 of the main directions of the series - slow groove, spacey, new wave shit (first half), and the infectious, driving, vocal approach of the 2nd half. Take one of Sweden´s biggest DJs, put him in a studio together with Robyn´s (yes, that blond girl) drummer and you get the producer duo: MRTN. DJ Mrtn (Sthlm Beat) and the drummer Pomp (Povel Olofsson) have worked together since spring of 2010, and their debut track ‘High’ was released august 2010. ‘High’ is a raving floor filler that was produced with one purpose in mind only, to destroy any dance floor. Until september 2011 they called themselves MRTNxPOMP, but then decided to change the name to simply: MRTN. During 2011 Mrtn Sthlm Beat and Pomp finally managed to finish their debut EP, even though they both were on separate tours all spring and summer: Mrtn Sthlm Beat doing DJ sets all over Europe and Pomp as Robyn´s drummer all over the world. Now the fresh MRTN debut ep is released on Top Billin. Featuring the vocals of lovely Lovisa Negga, this stunning debute is a keeper. Voxels are a careful explored sonic mess, an ordered everyday experimentation in opposition to the chaos of influences electronic dance music fell into this past years. The duo is composed of Pedro Chamorra and Pedro Pinto, two individuals with a vast CV within the music business. Their endeavors (that go from producing well known artists to curating world class festivals) but better to focus on what is about to come as it is truly wonderful and what really matters here. In nowadays fight between analogical and digital supporters they're the ones who win as they assemble the best of both worlds to bring you a blend of samplers, analog synthesizers and sequencers, digital effects, hi-end studio equalizers and compressors, digital percussion, traditional instruments, avant-garde plugins and deliberately modified software and hardware that will actually make your panties drop. Their studio sessions consist of two friends having fun in a long jam session which they'll chop and sample to make a perfect song to the tiniest detail.
